Well, this escalated quickly!

We knew 2026 was going to be a big year for Chunk. It’s our 20th birthday, after all. Two decades of pies, pasties, pastry, plenty of questionable baking puns and more awards than we know what to do with.

Somewhere along the way, we definitely developed a bit of a taste for trophies.

So, with 2026 nearing an end (in the awards world anyway), we thought it was about time we took a look at what our pies, pasties and gluten-free bakes have been up to on the awards circuit so far. And frankly… They've been showing off!

🏆 The British Pie Awards

Let's start with one of the big ones.

The British Pie Awards is, unsurprisingly, a pretty big deal when you're a pie maker.

And 2026 gave us plenty to shout about!

Our Steak & Red Wine Pie took home Gold AND the Class Winner title, which means it officially beat a fair few other pies in its class.

It's the slightly more sophisticated cousin of the traditional steak pie, with tender British steak slow-cooked in a rich red wine gravy. Very fancy. We can't wait for it to make an appearance again in the New Year.

Our Steak & Ale Pie also picked up Gold, confirming that sometimes the classics really do know what they're doing!

Our Steak Pasty came away with Silver, while our Steak & Haggis Pie with Whisky also bagged Silver.

And chuck in a few bronzes for good measure:

🥉 Butter Chicken Curry Pasty – Bronze
🥉 Chicken, Leek & Bacon Pie – Bronze
🥉 Gluten Free Steak & Ale Pie – Bronze

Not a bad showing for a bunch of pies and pasties from Devon!

⭐ Then came the Great Taste Awards

We lovingly refer to this one as the "Oscars of the food world" and anybody who's anybody in the food industry wants a few of these to their name.

This year, four of our bakes made the grade!

Our Chicken, Leek & Bacon Pie picked up one star, making it a Great Taste winner for the second year running.

We were thrilled that the Steak & Red Wine Pie went one better with two stars, which the Great Taste Awards judges reserve for products they consider outstanding!

Then there were two awards for the gluten-free gang:

⭐ Gluten Free Steak & Haggis Pie
⭐ Gluten Free Steak & Ale Pie

Our Gluten Free Steak & Ale Pie has actually been having quite the year, having already bagged Bronze at the British Pie Awards and Silver at the Taste of the West Awards, before adding a Great Taste star to the collection.

It's clearly got ambitions!

🌟 And then the Free From Awards happened...

This one deserves a special mention!

Our Gluten Free Chicken, Leek & Bacon Pie picked up Gold at the 2026 Free From Awards in the Centre of Plate category.

And this wasn't just a little pat on the back, either.

The judges' feedback included: “Couldn't tell it was gluten free.”

Which is always music to our ears! Because when we started developing our gluten-free range, the mission was never to make something that was merely good for gluten free.

It was to make a properly brilliant pie that just happens to be gluten free. The fact that it can stand up alongside products from some seriously big names in food retail makes this one particularly special for the whole Chunk Gluten Free team.

🌾 Then came the Taste of the West Awards

And what better place to celebrate good food than right here in the West Country?

We picked up a rather chunky haul (see what we did there!)  at the 2026 Taste of the West Awards, including:

🥇 Original Steak & Ale Pie – Gold
🥇 Steak, Stilton & Mushroom Pie – Gold
🥇 Butter Chicken Curry Pasty – Gold
🥇 Chicken, Leek & Bacon Pie – Gold

And over at Chunk Gluten Free:

🥇 GF Steak & Red Wine Pie – Gold
🥇 GF Mushroom Stroganoff Pie – Gold
🥇 Christmas Cake Slice – Gold

We also picked up Silver medals for:

🥈 Original Steak & Haggis Pie with Whisky
🥈 Original Steak Pasty
🥈 Gluten Free Steak & Ale Pie

Plus a few Commended results for good measure.

So that's a fair amount of shiny stuff from one local awards body, and we're certainly not complaining.

Just back from the Food Drink Devon Awards!

We picked up another 12 new gongs at the Food Drink Devon Awards, bringing our grand total for the year to a whopping 39. 

We'll take that!

So… How Many Awards Is That?

Well, depending on exactly how you count them — and whether you include commendations — there's quite a lot of celebrating going on!

Across the British Pie Awards, Great Taste Awards, Free From Awards and Taste of the West Awards, our 2026 haul so far includes medals, stars, a Class Winner title and plenty of reasons to crack open the biscuits (or something fizzy!) in the Chunk office.

And let's not forget that these are recognition from judges, food experts and industry professionals who have tasted a lot of pies and pasties. Which makes us particularly proud!!

But it's not really about the trophies...

As lovely as they are. Behind every award is a team that is dedicated to crafting, cooking, crimping, packing, checking each pie. And that's what we're most proud of!

Because 20 years after Simon and Suzi started Chunk in Ottery St Mary, we're still making pies and pasties in Devon, still doing things properly and still getting ridiculously excited when someone tells us they like what we've baked!

Now we're going to enjoy this rather lovely little haul and say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who's recommended us, reviewed us, shared a pie with someone else or simply told us that their Chunk bake was delicious.

20 years in, we're still baking. Still winning. Still having a laugh. And, most importantly…

Still making a lot of blooming good pie!
