The Prestigious British Pie Awards 2022

Did we mention we’ve won some awards? 😋

We’re very proud to have always done well in various Awards! We work hard to make sure that our pies and pasties use only the best quality ingredients we can get our hands on and are lovingly put together by the skilled ‘hunks’ in the kitchen. Our regular testing (poor old us!) ensures that the standard of our pies and pasties is up to scratch, tasting awesome and, of course, pleasing our wonderful customers.

We have 14 years’ worth of prizes from various bodies, including the Taste of the West Awards, Great Taste, Food, Drink Devon and the British Pie Awards, competing with big players such as M&S and Waitrose in a bid to be hailed the champions!

Our big winners since the beginning of time (well, the beginning of Chunk at the Awards) are the Steak & Ale Pie and the Chunki Roast Veg Pasty! Our controversial Steak Pasties are so good that they beat the Cornish in the Cornish Pasty Awards in 2009 – and subsequently, we were banned from entering! It has gone on to win several accolades since.

Simon and Suzi headed up country to Melton Mowbray to join everybody who is anybody in the Pie World for the Awards ceremony on the 11th March and some of the Chunk entries were hailed award winners. It was gold again (surprise, surprise!) for our glorious Steak Pasty who can well and truly rest on his laurels.

Our limited-edition Hunter’s Chicken pie really caught the judges’ pie… I mean eye… and won a silver award, along with 6 others including the Chicken & Chorizo Pasty, the Steak & Ale Pie and Chunki Roast Veg Pasty. There were a couple of bronze prizes for the Kickin’ Chicken and Butternut Squash Pies too. So, all in all, not a bad scoop.

We’ll be taking on the judge’s feedback, scrutinising our efforts through an enormous amount of tasting and strive to make all our pies and pasties even better through tweaking our recipes!
