Grab A Pasty And A Shandy For The Sunshine!

The Chunk x Shandy Shack Spring Pairing Guide

The sun’s out (finally), tables are moving outdoors, and we’re calling it - it’s officially pasty and pint season!!

But when the weather warms up, sometimes you want something a little lighter than a full-on beer. That’s where Shandy Shack comes in!

Proper craft beer, lifted with something refreshing. Perfect for picnics, garden lunches, and those “it’s definitely warm enough” afternoons. Find their shandies here!

So, we’ve come together to pair up a few Chunk favourites with some sunshine-ready shandies. Here’s what we’d be eating, drinking, and where.

Steak Pasty + IPA Shandy

The proper classic, seaside edition!

Our Steak Pasty is a twice Champion Pasty winner and holder of 16 Great Taste Awards (need we say more?).

Packed with chunks of free-range local beef skirt, potato, swede and onion, all wrapped in our shortcrust pastry. It’s the Devon classic, done properly.

Paired with: IPA Shandy

A golden, hop-packed session IPA topped with fresh lemonade. Bright, citrusy, and made for sunshine. Tastes like afternoons beside the seaside.

Where We’d Eat It:

Sat on a harbour wall, legs dangling, paper napkins struggling in the breeze...

Why It Works:

The rich, savoury beef and buttery pastry get lifted by the citrus zing of the shandy. The lemonade cuts through the richness, while the IPA keeps enough body to stand up to a proper pasty.

Butter Chicken Curry Pasty + Ginger Beer Shandy

Warm spice, cool refresh!

Our Butter Chicken Curry Pasty (Best New Product of 2025 according to Food Drink Devon) packs tender chicken, peppers, potato, and tomato.

It has aromatic notes of cumin, turmeric, coconut, and a squeeze of lime that can really warm up your afternoon! Well spiced, but not spicy - just FULL of warming flavour!!

Paired with: Ginger Beer Shandy

A malty pale ale with a generous glug of fiery ginger beer. Sweet, spicy, and seriously refreshing.

Where We’d Eat It:

Garden table, sleeves rolled up, when the sun just starts setting. Add a crispy side salad to the mix and you've got a proper start to your night!

Why It Works:

The gentle curry spice pairs perfectly with the kick of ginger. The sweetness balances the savoury filling, while the fizz keeps everything feeling light and summery!

Lamb Maroc Pasty + Raspberry Lager

Picnic-ready perfection

Our Lamb Maroc Pasty blends West Country lamb with chickpeas, apricots, and sun-dried tomatoes. It is finished with warming Moroccan spices inspired directly from the pasty's Mediterranean origins!

Sweet, savoury, and a little bit sunshine-y!

Paired with: Raspberry Lager

A crisp pilsner lifted with ripe raspberry. Light, fruity and seriously refreshing. This pasty pairing is ideal for a complex but light flavour profile!

Where We’d Eat It:

Spread out on a picnic blanket with something sweet to follow...

Why It Works:

The fruitiness in the lager mirrors the apricot and spice in the filling. It’s fresh, balanced, and ideal for relaxed outdoor eating.

Chicken & Chorizo Pasty + Elderflower Lager

Sunshine lunch sorted

Our Chicken & Chorizo Pasty is filled with tender chicken, chunks of spicy chorizo, salsa, red onion and smoked paprika. Bold, savoury, and packed with flavour.

Paired with: Elderflower Lager

A crisp pilsner with a splash of elderflower cordial. Light, floral and perfect for warm afternoons. Ideal for al fresco dining after a long day!

Where We’d Eat It:

Outside the office, quick lunch in the sun that turns into “just five more minutes”.

Why It Works:

The smoky paprika and chorizo get softened by the floral sweetness of elderflower. The lager keeps it crisp, clean, and easy drinking.
