Striking Gold at the Taste of the West Awards 2024

News just in… Chunk of Devon has been making waves 🌊 at the Taste of the West Awards, and let's just say, we're feeling pretty chuffed about it! 🏆✨
7 more awards to attempt to cram onto our wall stuffed with certificates and we couldn’t be prouder! This year we entered lots of our newest recipes and limited-edition pies into the awards and eagerly awaited the results. It’s always a slightly nerve-wracking process, despite all our previous successes! We’re thrilled that the judges have recognised the effort that goes into making our pies and pasties and coming up with unique recipe ideas that are bound to delight.

Gold Rush at Chunk of Devon 🥇

Imagine our delight when we discovered that not one, not two, but FOUR of our scrumptious creations struck gold at this year's awards ceremony! From absolute classics (steak pasty, anyone?!) to innovative delights, these pies and pasties stole the show and left taste buds tingling for more.
And the Winners Are...
🥇 Ruby Murray Pasty: Taking home the gold medal in the pasty category, our Ruby Murray Pasty wowed the judges with its tantalising blend of veggies, fragrant curry spices, and golden pastry. This veggie bake has continued to blow away the judges at various award ceremonies in it’s time!
🥇 Steak Pasty: Our classic Steak Pasty also clinched gold – no surprises there, proving that once again that you just can't beat a hearty, meaty filling encased in our signature flaky pastry. Our recipe is a timeless favourite that's stood the test of time and earned its rightful place on the podium.
🥇 Pigs in Blankets Pie: Our innovative Pigs in Blankets Pie, baked for Christmas, snagged the gold medal with its irresistible combination of succulent pork sausages, crispy bacon, and buttery pastry. It's a taste sensation that'll have you oinking with delight – bring on the festive period (although a bit of summer would be nice first)!
🥇 Duckin’ Pie: Last but certainly not least, our Duckin’ Pie concocted for Chinese New Year soared to victory with its rich and indulgent filling of tender slow-cooked duck, stir-fried veg, and aromatic spices. It's a quacking good pie that's sure to make a splash at any dinner table!
And let's not forget our Silver medalists! Our limited edition Venison & Port Pie and the new Cluckin’ Curry Pasty may have just missed out on gold, but they're still shining stars in our book. With their bold flavors and expert craftsmanship, they've earned their place among the best of the best.
The Smokin’ Brisket Pie which was Chef, Marc’s wonderful creation last month also managed to bag a Commended award. With its smoky flavors and melt-in-your-mouth brisket, this pie is smokin' hot in more ways than one!

We couldn't be prouder of our Chunk of Devon team for their hard work, dedication, and passion for creating pies and pasties that truly stand out from the crowd. And of course, a heartfelt thank you to the Taste of the West Awards for recognising and celebrating excellence in regional food and drink.
